Nomination Information 

Nominations may be filed by Candidates at the Clerk's office at any time, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding statutory holidays), from Tuesday, May 1st, 2018 to Thursday, July 26th, 2018. The last day to file a Nomination is Friday, July 27th, 2018, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A notable change from the Nominations process in 2014 is that Candidates for Council will now require 25 endorsement signatures in the prescribed Endorsement of Nomination Form (PDF) in order to file a Nomination. School Board Trustee Candidates have been exempt from this requirement by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs.

Nomination Procedure

Candidates must file their Nominations at City Hall, located at 100 Wellington Square. It is expected that Candidates have completed all of the required forms and have reviewed all of the necessary information available in the Candidate Package (see more information below) before they arrive to file their Nomination.

When Candidates arrive, they will meet with the City Clerk or designate, who will proceed to complete the Nomination Checklist with the Candidate (attached below). If satisfied with the information provided, the City Clerk or designate will receive the Nomination. At this time, Candidates will also be given a Financial Package, which includes spending limits and other related information. Nominations will not be formally certified by the City Clerk until Monday, July 30th. Please review the Nomination Checklist prior to filing your Nomination (PDF).

Below are the forms that comprise the Candidate Package. Packages are also available for pick-up at City Hall. Please note that some of the forms require information and a signature. Do not sign the forms until you file your Nomination with the City Clerk or designate at City Hall, but please have all other information on the forms completely filled out and ready for filing. It is important that these forms are signed in front of the City Clerk or designate. The forms below have been divided into two sections: documents to review and documents to complete for filing. We strongly encourage all Candidates to read the informational documents prior to filling out any forms.
