Brantford Walk of Fame Project: Armouries Gore Park
Project Overview: In 2008, Brantford City Council approved the design and construction of a new Walk of Fame monument structure and feature park space, to pay tribute to Brantford’s distinguished citizens. With the assistance of MMM Group, a design concept and construction drawings for a new monument structure and park space has been completed, based on the principles established by a former Task Force comprised of representatives from the Parks, Recreation, and Water Front Advisory Committee, the Tourism Advisory Committee, and the Heritage Committee, as well as, staff from Planning, Parks and Recreation, and Tourism.
The concept plans for the new Walk of Fame Monument Structure, which includes a re-design of Armories Gore Park located at the intersections of Brant Avenue, Dalhousie and Colborne Streets, are attached below.
Timeline: Construction of the new structure and park space has now begun. The project is expected to be complete in late 2012.
Opportunities for Involvement: Citizen members are welcome to participate in the Walk of Fame Task Force, which will oversee the ongoing Walk of Fame recognition program after the project is complete. Contact Helen Borowicz to learn more about the Walk of Fame Task Force.
