Creativity Tool Kit for Entrepreneurs
How can entrepreneurs generate fresh and creative ideas? This experiential workshop will showcase a number of creativity techniques, and help participants appreciate how these techniques can be useful for entrepreneurs. Through interactive group activities, participants will experience first hand how creative thinking techniques can result in more useful ideas. Participants will leave the workshop with a “Creativity Tool Kit” of techniques and approaches they can use to generate creative ideas for their businesses.
Dr. Auleen Carson
Dr. Auleen Carson is a marketing educator and consultant with a strong interest and expertise in how creativity can enhance business effectiveness. She developed and teaches a creativity course for the MBA program at Laurier, and has worked with businesses and public organizations to improve their marketing through creative techniques. She has an MBA from UBC, a PhD in Marketing from the Schulich School of Business at York University, and has taught at three universities. Her professional experience also includes working in an entrepreneurial environment as Sr. Vice President in a technology start up company.

The Brantford-Brant Business Enterprise Resource Centre offers a wide range of entrepreneurial services to individuals starting new ventures and to small businesses including:
- A comprehensive reference library on topics such as government assistance programs, regulations, business planning, marketing, franchising and much more
- Business Information Advisor to help entrepreneurs find the information needed to plan and build their ventures
- Business Advisor for one-on-one discussions with entrepreneurs on developing their enterprises
- Videos on small business subjects; access to computer time for Internet research; photocopier, etc.
- On-line business registration and name searches.

The Brantford and Area Business Directory is compiled by the City's Economic Development and Tourism Department. The directory contains over 800 businesses within 17 categories and most importantly, it's FREE to register!

Brantford·Brant Industrial Directory
The Brantford·Brant Industrial Directory is an annual publication produced by the City's Economic Development Department. The directory contains approximately 450 listings of local industrial companies in the Brantford-Brant area. If you would like your business to be listed in the Business, Industrial or Tourism Directory, click to use the online Business Directories Registration Form and submit your business information.

Free, consultations, by appointment, with experienced professional business consultants to discuss your business and any specific issues or assistance you may require.
The Brantford-Brant Business Resource Enterprise Centre provides free access, by appointment, to professional mentors that will provide you with guidance in legal, accounting and sales/marketing issues. You must be a client of the BRC and be referred to receive your free consultation.
Research and Computer Access
The Brantford-Brant Business Resource Enterprise Centre has a resource centre available to entrepreneurs, with everything you need right at your finger tips. The centre is equipped with three computer terminals for use by entrepreneurs, access to the internet, accessability to online directories.

The BRC is well known for it’s assistance, knowledge and expertise in the development of Business Plans for small business. Online samples of over 500 business plans are available as a key resource to new business startups.
Building Connected Communities (BCC) Project
On February 1, 2011 the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) announced that the County of Brant is one of 9 municipalities selected in 2011 to receive broadband funding from the Province’s Rural Connections Program. The Ontario Municipal Rural Broadband Partnership is a four-year initiative designed to reduce broadband infrastructure gaps in underserved rural regions in southern Ontario.
