On November 10, 2009 Business for the Arts announced that Brantford was selected as one of the first five of 15 Ontario communities to be awarded the artsVest matching grant opportunity over the next four years. This grant is available thanks to funding support from business members of Business for the Arts, as well as the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Ontario Ministry of Culture.
The artsVest program will be launched early next year, sparking new relationships between local cultural organizations and businesses, while engaging their municipal leadership in helping to further municipal cultural plans.“This is an exciting opportunity for both our business and cultural communities,” Margaret Glass, Chair of the Brantford Cultural Advisory Committee, said. “Although there is already a spirit of corporate philanthropy in Brantford, the development of a stronger relationship between these two sectors will benefit the entire community.”
As a community with a population of 60,000-200,000, Brantford’s arts and heritage organizations will be able to access $50,000 of matching challenge funds. In addition to funding, artsVest will provide training to arts and heritage organizations on how to work with the business community.
