Message from Chair & Honourary Chair

Greetings from Mr. Bob Coyne, Brantford’s Canada Day Celebration Chair

Dear Friends,

Living in Brantford proves to be more exciting every year. The development in our community over the last number of years has been more than remarkable. Everything from our skateboard park, our trails, Harmony Square, upgrades at various community centres, and of course our Universities. Now we are preparing to open our new arenas and embrace our Waterfront Master Plan. What a great time to be a "Brantfordian"!

As we get ever closer to summer many of us are looking forward to July 1st and Canada day. A marvelous group of enthusiastic and creative people have stepped forward again to put together a great Brantford Celebration of Canada Day. They have worked very hard to ensure that our celebration will be as enjoyable as any in our nation. Our celebration is a partnership between our City and our volunteer citizens who together have set a Celebration Standard that many communities can only envy.

As the Chair of this wonderful group I would like to thank each and every one of them for their dedication and thorough completion of everything that was required to make this day a great Brantford Day. Special thanks to Lori-Dawn Cavin and Brian Hughes for their guidance and leadership which made this partnership so successful and Canada Day something we all will remember with great pride for a very long time.

Greetings from the Honourary Chair, Donna P. Summerhayes

On July 1, 2011 Brantford’s Canada Day Festival will be celebrating our country’s 144th birthday and what a party it will be.

Building on last year’s successful event, our dynamic team of volunteers is planning to present another creative, fun-filled, extraordinary day for citizens of all ages. As always the theme of “the family” will prevail, so you can count on a safe easily accessible venue at Lions Park Steve Brown Sports Complex.

I want to extend may sincere appreciation to the City of Brantford and our many other valued sponsors and volunteers for catching our vision, making it possible to enjoy a day especially for celebrating our country’s birthday.

As many of you know, I will have the honour and privilege of presiding at the Citizenship Ceremony. I hope the pride I have in our community and our country is shared by each of you and that you all will express pride in your citizenship by participating in and enjoying this special day.

I look forward to seeing you on July 1st at Lions Park Steve Brown Sports Complex,

Donna Summerhayes, C.M.,
