Engineering 

The major objective of the Engineering Department is the implementation of Council policies, procedures and directives assoicated with the management of infrastructure in the most effective, efficient and economical manner possible.

This requires that the General Manager of Engineering & Operational Services:

  • plan and prepare budgets
  • maintain infrastructure in a cost efficient manner
  • evaluate concerns from the public and take corrective action

The Engineering Department adheres to policies established by the Council of the City of Brantford and strives to deal with matters concerning road construction, road maintenance, bridges, sidewalks, street lighting, storm sewers and sanitary connections, pumping stations, traffic and parking, transit, maintenance of City-owned buildings, parks, community centres, pools, arenas, forestry, garbage and recycling collection, fleet, golf services, as well as environmental issues and drainage problems.

The department also operates and maintains the landfill site, the water treatment plant and the water pollution control plant, the farmer's market and the Brantford Airport.
