Accessibility Plan for the 2018 Election

After the 2014 Election, staff reviewed the accessibility initiatives undertaken during the course of the Election and compiled a report summarizing the findings. This report (which is available through the link below) aimed to identify barriers that affected electors and candidates, as well as measures that were taken to increase accessibility.

For the 2018 election, we will use this report to guide new initiatives to further increase accessibility while once again implementing measures that were used in the 2014 Election.

We will be offering roaming voting stations at locations that have been identified to have significant populations of voters that may be unable to travel to a polling location due to accessibility issues (such as nursing homes), just as election staff did in 2014. A new initiative being carried out this year is the availability of online voting from the 1st of October, 2018 through to the Official Voting Day on October 22nd. Online voting is open to all voters.
