Feasibility of Water Storage Facility

Pressure District #1 Water Storage Class Environmental Assessment Notice of Study Completion

The Study

The City of Brantford has completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study for Water Storage within Pressure District # 1 (PD#1).  Additional water storage capacity is required to address growth within PD#1 (located in the south part of the City), and to provide security of supply.  This study also included a review of ways to improve existing low water pressure issues.

The Process

The study was completed in accordance with the requirements for Schedule “B” projects as described in the Municipal Engineers Association’s “Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA)” document (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015).  The recommended solution consists of a new elevated water storage tank in PD#1 and a booster pumping station to service future development in the Colborne St. W. area. Through the evaluation of alternative water storage tank locations including public consultation, the preferred water storage site is located on City owned lands on Shellard Lane (Site F).
