Ward Boundary and Council Structure Options Review
Update
The Electoral Ward Boundary Review has been completed and a final report was presented at the Committee of the Whole - Operations & Administration meeting on Monday, March 18, 2013.
On Monday, April 22, 2103, bylaw number 36-2013, a bylaw to repeal Municipal Code Chapter 22, and Ward Boundary Bylaw 154-2005 to establish the new ward boundaries will be before Council for consideration.

If you wish to address Council about this bylaw, you may do so by registering to be a delegation at the meeting on April 22, 2013, (begins at 6 p.m.) or by sending a letter to the City Clerk. Delegations need to submit a request to be a delegation by 9 a.m. on Monday, April 22. Forms are available on our "Delegations Request" page on this website, or from the Clerk's office.
Ward Design
Council has approved the following option for the 2014 municipal election:
- Redistributed 5-ward option with 2 councillors per ward

Guiding Principles
The following criteria was used in assessing the various options considered during the review process:
- Effective and equitable system of representation
- Wards should preserve communities of interest
- Wards should recognize natural physical features (rivers, lakes, swamps) or natural barriers/dividers (highways, railways)
- Wards should recognize areas of growth/decline, population trends, density
- Wards should recognize accessibility/communication issues
Online Survey
On on-line survey was conducted to obtain public input.
THIS SURVEY CLOSED ON JUNE 20, 2012
The survey results were analyzed and have aided in formulating the final decision on Electoral Ward Boundaries.
