What is the Downtown Streetscape Design Plan?

Downtown Brantford is getting a facelift!

The City of Brantford has partnered with the Downtown Brantford Business Improvement Area (BIA) and Laurier Brantford to produce a Downtown Brantford Street Scape Design Plan. This document will guide the City in developing a new look for the streets of Downtown Brantford. In addition to enhancing the growing vibrancy in the downtown, the Streetscape Design Plan will foster the identity of Brantford through new street furniture, lighting fixtures, planters, banners, and improved overall walkability and safety in the downtown.

The City has received many valuable comments through public consultation for the Downtown Master Plan. Now we are looking to implement these ideas.

Goals of the Downtown Brantford Streetscape Design Plan:

  • Create a more pedestrian-friendly downtown using high quality, durable, easily maintained furniture, fixtures, landscaping, etc.
  • Enhance the growing vibrancy of the downtown through partnerships with major downtown businesses, the post-secondary institutions, and other partners in the downtown.

A Steering Committee made up of City Council, City Staff, the Downtown Brantford BIA, and Laurier Brantford is helping to guide the Project Consultants.
