SHS Consulting Inc. was hired by the City of Brantford to complete the Affordable Housing Strategy. As well SHS provided an Housing Demand and Supply Analysis Report and a supporting Resource Document (Technical Appendix).
The extensive consultation process, underway since early 2009, engaged 72 stakeholders, a tenant focus group, housing provider surveys, phone interviews with various stakeholders, a public consultation and three meetings with a Steering Committee. The reports are posted below for easy review.
This Affordable Housing Strategy for Brant-Brantford has been developed with two key objectives:
- To provide an analysis of the housing needs facing residents of Brant-Brantford; and
- To put forth a set of recommended actions and strategies that are aimed at meeting the identified needs of residents, that maximize resources and create effective partnerships, and which are consistent with current local objectives and policies.
The overall goal of the Affordable Housing Strategy is to provide the City, County and community stakeholders with a set of directions to meet the diverse range of housing needs of residents across the entire housing continuum and ultimately work towards the creation of complete communities.
Public input has now been received and included in the below documents. The City of Brantford thanks all those who participated in this process and provided input to the Affordable Housing Strategy.
