What's Free, Fun, and Artsy All Over? 

Downtown Brantford's Harmony Square ... all summer long! 

Banish the phrase "I'm bored!" from your household this summer - with movies, music, festivals, theatre and dancing, the whole family can have a blast without breaking the bank by simply heading downtown.

Not sure what to do with your Thursday and Friday nights?  Is the backyard atmosphere getting a little stale and prompting the question, "What else is there to do?"  Well, wonder no more - all you have to do is grab some lawn chairs and head down to Harmony Square to enjoy lovely summer nights with friends and family.

Every Thursday evening from July through the first week of September there are Movies in the Square.  These free movies air at dusk - bring yourself and some lawn chairs and sit back and enjoy the unique experience of watching a movie under the stars - no cars needed!

City of Brantford Parks and Recreation, Brantford Public Library, the Brantford Youth Council are pleased to put on this weekly flick fest throughout the summer.

Friday nights are just as hoppin' in the Square.  Empire Communities is pleased to once again present the Friday Night Music in the Square Concert Series. 

Come out and dance like no one's watching to the sounds of these fabulous acts every Friday night from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.   Plan to go out for a bite at one of many surrounding restaurants afterwards and make a memorable night out of it!

Have a hankering for a bit of theatre?  Good - we've got lots happening in the Square every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. throughout July and August!  City of Brantford Parks and Recreation is thrilled to announce the Children's Theatre Series Line-up for 2010, with a heartfelt thanks to those local theatre and dance groups who contributed to making this excellent series a reality.

Expanded for 2010, there are weekly theatre productions that will both inspire and entertain children of all ages, and also  the young at heart who simply enjoy the arts.

Also happening weekly is "Yoga in the Square," presented by Welkin Wellness Centre.  This beginner yoga class runs every Tuesday until September from 7:15 - 8:15 a.m. - start your mind, body and soul off right with this little slice of Zen. 

"Chess in the Square" is a great way to spend an hour or two challenging your mind.  This bi-weekly event is open to all ages - come out either on Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or Thursdays from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m., or show off your skills in the open tournament on August 15 (tournament begins at 1:00 p.m.)

Other highlights in the Square include "Art in the Square," hosted by the Brantford Arts Block on August 14.  Bring your imagination and creativity to life through art with others!
