Get into the Spirit of the Holidays at Brantford’s Museums and Galleries
As the holiday season approaches, Brantford’s local museums and art galleries are gearing up for events sure to get you into the holiday spirit!
The Bell Homestead National Historic Site is hosting a “Holiday Craft and Bake Sale” on November 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy homemade pies, cookies and other goodies. Beginning November 30, the Homestead will be decorated in a traditional Victorian theme with plenty of garland, greenery and all the trimmings. Learn all about 100-year-old Yuletide traditions while touring this beautiful historic home. Then on December 11 and 12, the Bell Homestead hosts Holiday Lamplight Tours from 5 to 8 p.m. Immerse yourself in the romance of times gone by in the Homestead amid the glow of candles and oil lamps. On November 27, the Brantford Arts Block will be open from 4 to 10 p.m. during the Santa Claus Parade for “Santa’s Creative Outlet Sale,” featuring more than 18 different vendors offering one-of-a-kind items created by local artists and artisans. On December 1, the Brant Historical Society will host a Victorian Christmas-themed auction at the Brantford Air Force Club from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $10 per person and are available at the Brant Museum & Archives. On December 15, the Brant Historical Society will take a journey back to “Christmas in Brantford/Brant in 1910” with local historian David Judd at Myrtleville House Museum. It begins at 7:30 p.m. and admission is by donation. From December 20 to 23, the Myrtleville House Museum has organized a “Wonderful Winter Time Children’s Day Camp” to keep children ages 4 to 11 busy in the days leading up to Christmas! Until December 18, step back in time for a 19th century Christmas at the Chiefswood National Historic Site - the birthplace and childhood home of E. For something a little more contemporary, the Personal Computer Museum is hosting “A Computer Christmas Open House” on December 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The computers will display Christmas-themed items and they’ll also be showing “TRON” video games leading up to the release of the new movie.
