Get Your Calendars Ready ... It's Time To Plan March Break 2009! 

Get into the action … join in on one or all of the many fun-filled activities the City or Brantford has to offer throughout the week (March 13 and 16 – 20, 2009).

Get into the springtime groove with these awesome theme days at the City of Brantford’s Community Centre's March Break Day Camps! For kids ages 5 – 12, the camp is made up of six fun-filled days of crafts, sports, games, movies, and loads of other specially planned events.

Get ready for a week of superb days! The line-up includes:

  • Friday, March 13 – Camp Rock
  • Monday, March 16 – High Sea Adventure
  • Tuesday, March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day
  • Wednesday, March 18 – Wacky Sports
  • Thursday, March 19 – Monster Bash
  • Friday, March 20 – Science Zone

Camps run on the above days, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with free extended care available from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 – 5:15 p.m. These camps are offered at Branlyn Community Centre, Doug Snooks Eagle Place Community Centre, TB Costain/SC Johnson Community Centre, and Woodman Park Community Centre. Cost is $26.25 for March 13; and $26.25 /day or $115 for the week (March 16 – 20), plus an additional $7 trip fee where applicable.

Your children will come home with tall tales and even bigger smiles after attending one or all of the day camps offered at the Bell Homestead National Historic Site this March Break. Alexander's Adventures 2009 is comprised of various theme days, all based on the life and work of Alexander Graham Bell!

The week’s line-up includes:

Friday, March 13 - Aleck's Lab
As a boy, Alexander loved doing all his own science experiments and even made some inventions! Try out some fun science yourself!

Monday, March 16 - At Sea
Alexander travelled on the ocean many times, including when he came to Canada. Make a sea-worthy vessel and experiment with water.

Tuesday, March 17 - Around The World
Alexander and his family travelled to many different countries all around the world! Experience the food and crafts of other cultures!

Wednesday, March 18 - Airborne
Alexander watched birds and always dreamed of flying. He went on to develop kites and airplanes. Try out some high-flying activities!

Thursday, March 19 - Big City Life
Alexander lived in and visited many of the world's largest cities in his life. Make some tall buildings and map your own dream city!

Friday, March 20 - Country Living
Alexander had a new adventure coming to Canada: he lived on a farm for the first time! Try making some farm-fresh food and some country crafts.

Space is limited; register today! Camps are offered to children ages 5 – 11 and run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; cost is $20 per child per day or $10 for a half day ($15/$7.50 museum members). Please call Sarah at (519) 756-6220 for more information or to register.

The Wayne Gretzky Sport Centre (WGSC) has a whole host of day camps, recreational swims, and swimming lessons scheduled for March Break. Day camps run on March 13 ($29 per child), and 16 – 20 ($120 per child for the week), from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with free extended care available from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. and 4 – 5:15 p.m.

Recreational swims are a great way to get out and enjoy some time in the pool with friends and family. From March 13 - 20, recreational swim times are: Monday to Friday, 1:30 – 4:00 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 7:00 – 8:30 a.m.; and Friday from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.

With so many things to accomplish and so little time to do so, why not get some swimming lessons under your belt this March Break? The WGSC is holding multi-level swim lessons from March 16 – 20. All lessons are taught by Red Cross instructors, and run at various times throughout the day, including:

  • 9:00 to 9:45 a.m.
  • 9:15 to 10:00 a.m.
  • 9:45 to 10:30 a.m.
  • 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.
  • 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
  • 10:45 to 11:30 a.m.

Enjoy the beginnings of spring, spend some time with your loved ones, and have a blast this March Break!
