Summer Kick-Off … June is Recreation and Parks Month!
Let’s get active, get healthy and have fun doing it during “June is Recreation & Parks Month!” The City of Brantford challenges you to get involved in one, some, or all of the special activities offered throughout the month of June; check out the line-up for 2009 and Get Active, Brantford!
May 27, 2009
The month kicks off on June 1 at 12:00 p.m. with the Smelly Sneaker Community Challenge; residents, schools and businesses are invited to Harmony Square to join Brantford Parks and Recreation staff for a 20-minute spirited walk around town.
Not close to Harmony Square? No problem! Host your own walk and record the number of participants – let’s try to beat our numbers from last year and support a healthier, happier community.
With the list of free activities ranging from specialized fitness classes to public swims and mini putt, the month of June is jam-packed with great ideas to get you moving.
Highlights include:
- June 3 – 10-mile Bike Ride (ride begins at TB Costain Community Centre)
- June 17 – Mini-Putt at Earl Haig Family Fun Park
- June 18 – Kids Summer Celebration in Mohawk Park
- June 30 – Beginners Yoga Class in Harmony Square
Reacquaint yourself with all summer in the city has to offer; enjoy the over 60 km’s of recreational trails, play a round of disc golf at Mohawk Park, or enjoy a play at the Bell Homestead’s outdoor theatre.
Whatever you choose, be sure to have fun, be safe and … Get Active, Brantford!
