Snowbirds Set to Soar Above Brantford

Look up ... way up ... and enjoy the beautiful sight of our nations biggest 'birds' as they take to the sky. At approximately 10:30 a.m. on September 1, 2009, Canadian Forces Snowbirds will be soaring over our City in celebration of the "Centennial of Flight - 100 Towns for 100 Years."

August 31, 2009

This flight is a simple pass over our City - think of it as a tempting teaser for the Rotary Brantford Charity Air Show, happening Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at the Brantford Municipal Airport. This over flight is not a full air demonstration, rather, a quick pass over Brantford with the smoke on to let us know that the boys have taken to the sky. This special flight is being done in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the first powered, heavier-than-air controlled in Canada by J.A.D. McCurdy in the Silver Dart.

The Canadian Centennial of Flight Project was envisioned as a way to provide support to Canadians who want to make the 100th anniversary of the first flight in Canada a celebration of not only the historical event of February 23rd, 1909 when the Silver Dart took flight, but also Canadian accomplishments in civilian and military aviation in the decades since then, at home and abroad.

Please note that this over flight is subject to good weather and availability of aircrafts, and after the flight, the Snowbirds will be carrying on to their next destination.
