2010 Chili Willy Cook-Off February 21

Harmony Square will be host once again to the Annual “Chili Willy” Skating Extravaganza.  This popular event will see local restaurants competing for the coveted title of “Brantford’s Best Bowl of Chili”, with you as the judge and jury!

Residents are invited to sample various chili recipes from across the city and vote for their favorite, ultimately crowning the 2010 Chili Willy Cook-off champion!

Open skating will follow the chili taste-off - the perfect way to cool down after sampling the hot dishes, with live entertainment by the reggae band High Tides to round out the day.

Chili tasting is available for only $5.00/bowl, and the festivities will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2010.

“This is the third year that Harmony Square has hosted Chili Willy,” Lori-Dawn Cavin, Community Events Coordinator for Parks and Recreation, said.  “The event has been very well received over the past two years, and we are expecting another big turn out this year.  The Square is fulfilling its purpose admirably.  This is a place where the community can come together for a variety of fun activities and reinvigorate our downtown area.  The re-emergence of Brantford’s downtown is a wonderful thing to see, and Harmony Square continues to play its part.”

Many new chili teams have joined the event this year including Tim Hortons Dundas & West, the Therapy Lounge, OLG Galileo’s Buffet & Grille, and Stromboli’s Pizza.  Past favourites are also going to be tempting your tastebuds, offering chili samplers wonderful flavours from Strodes BBQ & Deli, Strodes Express, The Piston Broke, Coffee Culture, White Rabbit Catering, and last year’s champion, Kirby’s Bar & Buffet.
