On May 29, Brantford’s Canada Day Committee announced to media, sponsors and dignitaries, the plans for the 2012 Canada Day festivities…and what an announcement it was. Representatives covered everything from the importance of having a good volunteer base for a festival this large, to Ontario Lottery Gaming Corporation representative, Cora Sperry, revealing Chilliwack, Canadian rock legends, as the main stage headliner. Sunday, July 1, promises to be a fun-filled day for every member of the family.

“We had a lot of fun today, launching the Canada Day lineup to our community,” stated Bob Coyne, Chair of the 2012 Canada Day Committee. “We are so excited about all of the great plans that we have throughout the entire day, the entire festival and about all the new features we have planned for this year’s festival!”

The Sullivan Bay Great Canadian Trail Run has expanded to include one-, five- and 10-kilometer fun/run/walks. The Made in Canada Exhibit theme for 2012 is agriculture, which includes a wide variety of interactive displays ranging from what we grow, to equipment used to get that farm fresh food on the dinner table.

Brantford’s 2012 Canada Day event will also play host to The Audible Difference Autoland: a small car show, allowing residents to get up close to some spectacular automobiles. “And for those who are at all concerned about the heat for this year’s festivities, we’ve even taken care of that,” stated Jennifer Middleton, Community Events Coordinator, City of Brantford. “Levac’s Cool Zone, located close to the entrance and the midway, will be a wonderful location for residents to cool off!”

After a 30-minute presentation from the 2012 Canada Day Committee, announcing Chilliwack, Shania Twin, 905 Band, My Little Pony, Guess With Jess, Colouring Competition, FREE Canada Day Shuttle Service and even a food drive event featuring a chance to win a VIP Chilliwack meet and greet, it’s clear to see that the Canada Day committee, volunteers and numerous community sponsors have been very busy preparing for Sunday, July 1!
