Tracey Bucci is this year’s recipient in the volunteer category and Wilfrid Laurier University, Brantford Campus receives the award in the green non-profit category.

The 2014 Environmental Recognition Awards were presented at the April 22, 2014 City of Brantford Council Meeting. Recipients received a certificate from Mayor Chris Friel.

Tracey Bucci: Volunteer – 2014 City of Brantford Environmental Recognition Award

Tracey has been extremely active on the environmental scene in Brantford for the past 13 years. As the Founder and President of Grand River Environmental Group, Tracey leads clean-ups around various spots with the City including Mohawk Canal, Cockshutt Bridge, Ballantyne Drive, and in the downtown area. Once a year she hosts a clean-up at Brant’s Crossing with a BBQ at Harmony Square.

The City of Brantford would like to congratulate Tracey Bucci for her commitment to Environmental Leadership in Brantford.

Wilfrid Laurier University, Brantford Campus: Green Non-Profit – 2014 City of Brantford Environmental Recognition Award

Laurier’s recognition is highlighted by their commitment to “high performance green buildings” and the Leeds certification at their Research and Academic Centre buildings. Leeds is a widely known sustainable rating system and is extremely rigorous. The application states “Everyone benefits from sustainable design standards by having less impact on our local environment.” Laurier pursued this certification in order to showcase their commitment to sustainable building practices and demonstrate community leadership.

The City of Brantford would like to congratulate Brian Rosborough and Claire Bennett of Laurier Brantford for demonstrating their commitment to the environment and sustainable building practices.
