Be a Snow Buddy - December Orientation Information

Are you 12 years or older? Would you like to earn a little money while you help out someone in your area? Are you a high school student who needs to complete community service hours?

If you answered 'yes' to any of the above questions, this program's for you! Sign up today for one of two remaining training sessions offered by the City of Brantford's Parks and Recreation Department, get matched up with your "Buddy" and lend a helping hand to someone in our community.

All new "Buddies" must attend one of three orientation sessions, held at the Beckett Adult Leisure Centre (BALC). (Advance registration is preferred.)

2011/12 Snow Buddies Program Orientation Sessions:

  • Tuesday, December 6, 2011 - 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, January 14, 2012 - 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Adult "Buddies" are also welcome! The same process applies, but if you're 18+ and want to become a "Buddy," a police check must be submitted to the BALC before attending the orientation session of your choice.

Are you looking for some help with outdoor upkeep this fall and winter?

If you're over 55 years of age or have special needs and live within Brantford city limits, we'll do our best to pair you up with a "Buddy" for the 2011/12 fall and winter seasons.

"Buddies" are anywhere from 12 years old and up, and are trained through the Snow Buddies Program for Leaf Raking and Snow Shovelling, which is offered by the City of Brantford's Parks and Recreation Department.

The process is simple:

  1. Contact the BALC and let us know that you are interested in getting a "Buddy."
  2. We do the rest! We find you a "Buddy" who will look after your leaf raking and/or snow shovelling at a reasonable, mutually agreeable rate. Please note that when registering, seniors are required to provide a $5.40 non-refundable fee.
