The Brantford Waterfront Master Plan has received a 2011 Award of Excellence from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA).
The CSLA Awards of Excellence recognize excellence in landscape architecture in categories of design, planning and analysis, research, communications, landscape management, new directions and residential design. Brantford’s Waterfront Master Plan was chosen to receive a National Merit Award demonstrating a deep understanding of the profession, excellence in leadership and breadth of work, innovation in concept and process, and exemplary environmental and/or social awareness.
The Waterfront Master Plan was developed by The Planning Partnership, PLAN B Natural Heritage, Archaeological Services Inc. and TCI Management Consultants, in collaboration with Brantford City Council, municipal staff and the community. The Plan's purpose is to guide future decisions surrounding land use and development along the Grand River's banks, in order to protect the significant natural and heritage resources of the River, its tributaries and canals. The Grand River is designated as a Canadian Heritage River and is recognized for its nationally significant heritage and natural resources, and this Plan will protect this beautiful natural asset.
