Geoff RaeFollowing 35 years in public service, today the City of Brantford’s Chief Administrative Officer, Geoff Rae announced his retirement on November 4th, 2016.

While originally from the Kingston area, Geoff has spent the bulk of his impressive career in this part of the province. He began his career in municipal government in Brantford where he worked for 4 years as a water treatment operator with the Brantford Public Utilities Commission. He has also worked at Halton Region, Haldimand County, and the City of Hamilton where he held senior roles as the Director of Business and Infrastructure Services, Director of Asset Management, Director of Environment & Sustainable Infrastructure, and General Manager of Public Works.

Geoff was appointed to the position of Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Brantford in April 2015 and had previously served as Brantford’s General Manager of Public Works for over 3 years.

Throughout his career Geoff has engaged in, and provided leadership for, numerous wastewater optimization efforts following the Composite Correction Program protocol to achieve significant financial and organizational benefits. He earned three college diplomas in the fields of Electrical, Data Processing, and Civil Engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in the Province of Ontario, and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

Having purchased a new property near his hometown of Kingston over a year ago, Geoff looks forward to joining his wife Mary who relocated to their home there earlier this year, and devoting more time to his many outdoor interests.

While the list of his significant achievements at the City of Brantford is lengthy, Geoff is most proud of leading the successful negotiation of the City’s new boundary adjustment agreement with the County of Brant. He also takes great pride in seeing the countless city staff members he has mentored over the years flourish in their roles. He considers his work with staff to be his greatest legacy and what he will miss most.

The City of Brantford thanks Geoff for his outstanding contribution to public service, and his steadfast commitment to the City of Brantford in the 9 years he has worked in this community.

Please join us in wishing Geoff a healthy, happy, well-deserved retirement.
