Due to the Canada Post labour disruption there will be no mail delivery.  Please follow the guidelines below.

Until further notice, any information required by your Case Manager or Employment Coordinator, including monthly income statements, should be dropped off at 220 Colborne Street in Brantford during regular business hours between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, with the exception of statutory holidays. Alternatively, there is a drop-box outside of the main doors.

There is also a drop box at the Paris location at St. James Anglican Church, located at 8 Burwell St. in Paris.

Correspondence can be picked up during regular business hours at 220 Colborne Street in Brantford.

Cheques can be picked up between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 220 Colborne.  Please present photo identification to receive your correspondence or cheques.

The City of Brantford’s Social Services Department will continue to follow the Canada Post labour disruption.  The process for issuing monthly cheques will be communicated on Friday, June 24, 2011. Any additional arrangements will be communicated through your Case Manager or Employment Coordinators, via regular updates on this website, on Twitter at OWBrant (http://twitter.com/OWBrant), or through the media.

Please complete a Direct Banking Deposit application to avoid delays in receiving your cheque.

Tax Bills

For payments not pre-authorized or paid through a mortgage company, work is in progress to have them mailed as soon as possible. Continue to monitor this section of brantford.ca, and/or the Civic News area of the site for further information.

For monthly pre-authorized payments, there will be no change in the payment amount. The new amount will be pro-rated after the strike ends and notices with updated amounts will be mailed.

For payments made through a mortgage company, a file with new calculations will be sent to the mortgage companies via email. Taxpayers will not be affected and will get notices after the strike ends.

Accounts Payable

Vendors, contractors and suppliers doing business with the City can make arrangements to be paid for services through an electronic funds transfer (EFT). Send an email to AP@brantford.ca for a copy of the city’s EFT form.  An EFT form is also available - click to download the EFT form now. This will open in a new browser window.

Otherwise, cheques can be picked up at 1 Market Square, Suite 115, Brantford, Ontario. Please email AP@Brantford.ca to confirm availability and to make arrangements for pick up of cheques. Click to send an email today. This will launch in a new browser window.

Utility Bills

In order to minimize the impact to our customers of a potential postal strike, we have made alternate arrangements for the delivery of the utility bill. In the event of a postal disruption, customers are required to keep their utility account current.

Payments can be made at our offices at 220 Colborne St during our normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or cheques (no cash please) can be left in our after hours drop box at this location.  We encourage you to use the other payment options available to you such as internet/telephone banking or payment at your financial institution.

You may call the Customer Services department at 519-756-1360 or click to send us an email to request up-to date account balances and due dates. This will open in a new browser window.

General Mail

All other mail not identified above such as lottery license reports, business licensing, matters relating to Building, Engineering or Planning can be made in person at City Hall, 100 Wellington Square during regular business hours between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, with the exception of statutory holidays.  Alternatively, there is a drop-box outside of the main door for off-hour deposits.

This plan will take effect unless a settlement between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) is reached.  Once a settlement has been reached, mail processing will return to normal.
