City Seeks Public Input on Council Compensation and Benefit Review

A Citizens Review Committee is reviewing the current compensation and benefit levels of the Mayor and City Councillors. This committee is now at the public consultation phase and wants to hear from you!
The review process is best done with input from a varied and diverse cross-section of all residents. Make your opinion known through one of the methods below – tell us whether or not you feel that the current compensation and benefit levels for the Mayor and City Councillors are adequate to the positions or if you think changes are needed.
Information on City Council’s current compensation and benefit levels is available online at http://www.brantford.ca/CouncilSurvey/ or can be obtained in person at the City Clerk’s Department, 100 Wellington Square, Brantford, during regular business hours.
Provide input through one of the following:

2. Registering as a delegation to appear before the Citizens Review Committee at one of its upcoming meetings:
- Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Delegates must pre-register by contacting Virginia Kershaw, Council and Committee Services Co-ordinator, at 519-759-4150 ext. 2232 or by email at vkershaw@brantford.ca no later than 9:00 a.m. on the day of the meeting.

The deadline for comments on Phase 1 of this review is Friday, December 2, 2011. Any comments received by 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, will be considered as part of the Committee’s interim report to Council. A final report on Phase 1 of its review is expected to be presented to City Council by December 2011.
Phase 2 of the review, scheduled to begin in January 2012, will include a comprehensive Council Structure and Ward Boundary Review with recommendations to be effective for the 2014 to 2018 term of Council, including honorarium levels for the recommended Council Structure options. More details on this phase of the review will be available after the completion of Phase 1.
