The Council of the Corporation of the City of Brantford is seeking Directors to serve on the following Boards: Brantford Hydro Inc. and Brantford Generation Inc. (1 Director to serve on both Boards); Brantford Power Inc. (2 Directors); and Brantford Energy Corporation (1 Director).
Brantford Hydro, a retail company with fibre optics, water heater and sentinel light rental lines of business, Brantford Generation, established to develop electricity generation projects and Brantford Power, the local electricity distribution company are the three operating companies within Brantford’s Energy Group of Companies, which includes a holding company, Brantford Energy Corporation.
Applicants to the Brantford Hydro Inc. and Brantford Generation Inc. Boards should have business experience including business development, marketing, sales and consumer relations; experience in telecommunications and fibreoptic sectors; experience in the energy sectors with emphasis on electricity generation including familiarity with the Green Energy and Green Economy Act and the Ontario Power Authority’s FIT and microFit generation programs; experience identifying and setting long and short-term strategic goals and demonstrated ability to achieve those goals as a member of a private corporation board of directors; familiarity with environmental issues and commitment to environmental stewardship; financial, legal, accounting, banking and/or public procurement procedures and knowledge of public policy issues relating to the Shareholder and the local community.
Applicants to the Brantford Power Inc. Board should have a knowledge of public policy issues related to the shareholders and the local community; knowledge of and experience in rate-regulated industries (including knowledge and experience related to the Ontario Energy Board, Ontario Power Authority, Independent Electricity System Operator, Electrical Safety Authority, Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, etc.); experience on private corporations boards of directors; legal, environmental, labour relations and’or safety experience; business experience; accounting, banking and/or financial experience; engineering, technical and/or systems experience; and industry networking and stakeholdering skills.
Applicants to the Brantford Energy Corporation should have business experience including business development, marketing, sales and consumer relations; experience on private corporation board of directors, financial, legal, accounting, banking and/or finance experience; regulated industry knowledge and experience including experience in the telecommunications, energy and/or electricity utility sectors; and knowledge of public policy issues relating to the Shareholder.

Brantford Hydro, Brantford Generation and Brantford Power board meetings are held in the City of Brantford with a minimum of nine meetings per year and the positions pay an honorarium.
The Brantford Hydro and Brantford Generation Boards meeting on the same day. The Brantford Energy Board typically meets four to five times per year in the City of Brantford and the positions pay an honorarium. Successful applicants will be appointed for a term of not more than three years.
