Temperatures are expected to drop to/below –15C, without windchill. During the alert, homeless people are advised to seek shelter.

The Brant County Health Unit and the City of Brantford have worked together with various community agencies to ensure that emergency accommodation is available to people who are at particular risk to the cold weather. Anyone who does not have shelter is encouraged to seek it. It is recommended that if you suspect someone without shelter and are concerned about his or her well being, to call the following:

For emergency accommodation requests and other services during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), call the Outreach Program at 759-3330. The Outreach Program is located at 220 Colborne St., Brantford.

For emergency accommodation and other services after hours and on weekends, call the Victims Services of Brant at 752-3140. Their volunteer staff will work with the Brantford City Police and OPP to ensure that emergency services are provided. Both the Brantford City Police and the OPP have been contacted, and their patrols will take extra care to monitor vacant buildings and known areas to encourage anyone there to contact the Outreach Program or Victims Services of Brant.
