Are the Evacuation Centres still open?

Woodman Community Centre will remain open until Saturday February 24th at noon. If you require assistance beyond that contact the shelter directly at 519-752-0890 prior to noon Saturday. Following that time contact Victim Services of Brant at 519-752-3140.

When will normal transit routes be resumed?

Transit routes have returned to regular schedule.

How do I pick up my animal from the SPCA?

SPCA will be connecting with people who have pets in their care or call the SPCA directly.

When will my garbage be picked up?

Household garbage requiring immediate disposal can be taken to the Mohawk St. Landfill (20 Morrison Rd) - Monday to Saturday between 8:00am and 5:00pm for the next two weeks (until Friday, March 9). There will be no tipping fee charged for residents in the evacuation zones. ID will be required. Alternatively, bulky pickup will be available curbside on your regularly scheduled collection day for the next two weeks (until Friday March 9, 2019) within the evacuation area.

Residents in the Holmedale evacuation area who missed setting garbage at curb on Thursday (February 22), garbage pick up service will be provided this Friday and Saturday (Feb 23 and 24).

When will my utilities be back on?

Brantford Power - Service was restored to most homes overnight. If necessary, crews will be going door-to-door to ensure there is no damage to electrical systems at individual addresses. Should you have any questions, please contact our Customer Care Team at 519-751-3522.

Union Gas - Union Gas utility service representatives began entering the areas Friday morning at 8 m.to repair any damaged natural gas facilities and restore service to impacted customers. Union Gas hopes to restore natural gas service to most customers by end of day Friday, and will have crews out on Saturday for remaining relights. Union Gas will need access to your home to complete relights. To report a natural gas emergency, contact Union Gas at 1-877-969-0999.

What bridges are open?

All bridges are open at this time. Pedestrian bridges remain closed on affected trail systems.

What if I come home to water in my basement?

Do not enter your basement if you suspect water has risen above the level of electrical outlets, baseboard heaters, furnace , or is near your electrical panel. Contact Brantford Power immediately to arrange for power to be disconnected (519-751-3522).

Does the City recommend a restoration company?

We suggest you work with your insurance company and adjuster to determine an appropriate partner.

How do I get help with insurance claims?

The Insurance Bureau of Canada will be onsite at Doug Snooks Community Centre, 333 Erie Ave, on Saturday between 10 AM – 5 PM and Sunday 1 PM – 5 PM to answer insurance questions, connect individuals with their insurer, and communicate information with insurers. Home Owners should bring their insurance policy with them, however general answers and guidance can still be provided without it.

How do I donate food items?

Food donations should be taken to the Food Bank. Cash donations are recommended.
