For the third year since its inception, the City of Brantford Parks & Recreation Department is offering programs to help Brantford families celebrate Family Day. Several fun-filled activities will be available to residents on February 15; and Frosty Fest, Brantford’s own old-fashioned winter carnival, will run all weekend long (February 13 – 15) in Harmony Square.
“We have had a great time celebrating Family Day at Harmony Square over the past couple of years, so this year we are taking it a giant leap forward. We are proud to host Brantford’s Frosty Fest Winter Carnival, presented by Freedom House. We are working hard to make everyday family day at Harmony Square. We look forward to seeing the community enjoy this year’s Frosty Fest,” Lori-Dawn Cavin, Community Events Coordinator for Parks and Recreation, said. “There will be a variety of family-affordable, and free events happening all weekend long. Together, we can all celebrate the importance of family members connecting with each other… just for the sheer fun of it.”
Frosty Fest activities include horse-drawn trolley rides, ice carving demonstrations, crafts, and more. Additionally, several community centres, the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, and the Bell Homestead National Historic Site will be open and ready to welcome visitors on Family Day.
“Brantford Parks and Recreation is once again excited to offer programming for this year’s Family Day,” Bill Page, Manager of Community Development, Parks and Recreation, said. “Our goal is to provide Brantford families with opportunities to spend quality time together. Many activities will be available at little or no cost.”
