March 6, Brantford, ON – blueW is a unique community-based program dedicated to promoting municipal tap water as a healthy, easily accessible alternative to purchasing bottled drinks. While many people prefer to drink tap water, it can be harder to access when away from home or the workplace. Easy to identify by the prominent blueW decal, the program is making it easier for people to fill up on the healthy choice of water for FREE!

“Given our shared objective to make water people’s #1 beverage of choice, the Healthy Kids Community Challenge is delighted to team up with blueW to spread the word about the national network of shops, restaurants and businesses willing to let visitors refill a reusable bottle with refreshing tap water, without pressure to make additional purchases”, said Bethany Letto, Program Manager of the Healthy Kids Community Challenge.

The program is a win-win for customers and businesses alike. Customers can fill up without the pressure of making a purchase, while businesses help promote the importance of choosing water first for thirst, and helping municipalities ensure that the community has access to clean, safe drinking water.

"Fostering a mutually beneficial relationship with local municipal partners is absolutely critical to blueW.org”, says Evan Pilkington, Director of blueW.org. “We're grateful for the support and enthusiasm the City of Brantford and County of Brant have provided to continue expanding our network and building community interest.” Participating locations can be found by using blueW’s website, www.bluew.org. The website (mobile and app friendly) provides mapped details on where to find clean, free, public and commercial sources to fill your reusable bottle without being compelled to make any purchases at the participating establishment.

Those with limited access to technology can download and print one of the City maps online or simply look for the blueW sticker on their favourite shop windows.
