Let the Games Begin! 2017 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games

Brantford and County of Brant, ON – The City of Brantford and the County of Brant are ready to welcome over 360 participants including athletes, coaches, support staff and officials to the area for the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games. The event takes place the weekend of February 10 to 12, 2017 with athletes from all over the province participating in 11 exciting sport competitions.

The Opening Ceremonies, made possible by presenting sponsor OLG, take place on February 10, 2017 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at The RISE Centre and will be broadcast live on Rogers TV Cable 20. The kick-off event includes a parade of athletes, local entertainment, video presentations, athletes’ oath, and the declaration of the opening of the Games with the lighting of the Games cauldron.

Sport competitions take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 11 and Sunday, February 12 with end times varying by sport. Throughout the two days of competition, para-athletes will go for gold in a variety of sports including 3-on-3 wheelchair basketball, boccia, goalball, sledge hockey, sitting volleyball and more. Members of the public are invited to attend all of the competitions, free of charge. Operation Lift, a not-for-profit agency that provides accessible transportation to persons with disabilities, has offered to coordinate accessible transportation options for spectators to attend the sport competitions at no cost. If you require assistance obtaining accessible transportation to the sport competitions, please contact Operation Lift at 519-756-2170 before Thursday, February 9 at 4:00 p.m. Assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
