The City of Brantford owns and operates its water system, which draws water from the Grand River and distributes treated water to its residents through various watermains, pumping stations and storage tanks throughout the system. The system is divided into three pressure districts.

In order to address growth in Pressure District #1, as well as provide security of water supply and address low water pressure issues, the City has undertaken a Class EA Feasibility Study for a Water Storage Tank within Pressure District #1.

Class EA

The study is being conducted in accordance with the requirements for Schedule “B” projects as described in the Municipal Engineers Association’s “Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA)” document (October 2000 as amended in 2007). The Class EA process includes public and review agency consultation, an evaluation of alternative solutions, an assessment of the impacts of the proposed improvements, and identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts. Upon completion of the study, a Screening Report (documenting the planning process) will be available for public review for a period of 30 calendar days. Members of the public will be notified of the date, time and location of the filing of the Screening Report at the appropriate time through newspaper notices and letters mailed to those in the project’s contact database.

Invitation to Participate

Public involvement is an important part of the Class EA process. Comments and information regarding this project are being collected to assist the project team in meeting the requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act.

Residents and community organizations are encouraged to participate by providing input for study consideration and attending the Public Information Centres (PICs) that will be held over the course of the next few months. With the exception of personal information, all comments received will become part of the public record. This notification and any future documentation for the project will be posted here on the City’s website. Click to be redirected to these pages with this website.

Please contact either one of the following project team members if you would like to be included on the mailing list, have any questions, or wish to obtain more information on the project.
