WHEREAS June 22, 2012 is the kickoff week for the Brantford Pride 2012; and
WHEREAS in its second year, The Bridge and the Brantford Pride Committee invites all individuals to join together to make our local community a diverse, safe and proud city; and
WHEREAS inclusiveness is embraced by the community to support the physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being of all of its members including the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer community; and
WHEREAS there is a need to recognize that a community is made up of many diverse and unique groups and that equity means a better life for all; and
WHEREAS the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer community would like to annually celebrate Brantford Pride Week as they and their allies strive to create a healthy and safe environment now and in the future;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Corporation of the City of Brantford does hereby proclaim Brantford Pride 2012 on June 22-23, 2012.
