Public Open Houses: Site Alteration By-law

All Brantford residents are invited to come out and participate in one of several public open houses regarding the new Site Altercation By-law, set to beocme effective October 1 (this by-law was approved by City Council in February 2011).  

This by-law is intended to regulate activities which may cause:

  1. Environmental degradation (due to illegal dumping, erosion, sediment transport and deposition)
  2. Drainage problems (blockages, watercourse alterations)
  3. Public nuisance (damage to and/or tracking of mud on City thoroughfares, dust, noise)
  4. May include individual homeowner activities such as pool construction, building additions, lot infilling, etc. with potential for impact on neighbouring properties

At these open houses, you're invited to take some one-on-one time with staff from the City of Brantford's Engineering Department and the consultant, AMEC Earth & Environmental Engineering, to disucss one or all of the topics listed below. The sessions will also include a brief presentation and a question/answer period.

  • Inspection and enforcement
  • Fines and/or charges for non-compliance

If you are unable to attend the open house scheduled in your ward, you are welcome to attend one of the other sessions, as the information provided will be similar at each meeting.
