Entitled the "Brown to Gold Visioning Opportunity" a public consultation workshop will take place at the Brantford Civic Centre Auditorium on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 between 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

The Greenwich Mohawk site consists of three properties with a history of industrial use including 347 Greenwich Street, 22 Mohawk Street and 66 Mohawk Street. The goal of the workshop is for residents to share their ideas about the future of the site. Specifically, the City hopes to learn more about what residents envision in terms of how the land should be used, urban design features, and unique neighbourhood characteristics they would like to see incorporated into the development plan.

The workshop will also serve as a forum to answer any questions or concerns the public may have about the site or the remediation process that is currently underway. Soil remediation will take place between now and March 2016 followed by groundwater remediation expected to be complete by December 2016. City officials are sensitive to any disturbances that may affect residents nearby and are taking multiple measures to minimize impact. For example, a large black privacy screen that serves to minimize issues such as dust, odor or noise encloses the site. In addition, soil piles will be tarped at the end of each day and water trucks will be kept on site to reduce dust levels.

The City is committed to ensuring the public has an opportunity to have any concerns about the remediation process addressed and to provide their input for how the site may ultimately be redeveloped. Potential uses include residential, parks, institutional or commercial properties. The redevelopment plan will be determined based largely on the community’s feedback during the public consultation process.
