BRANTFORD – The Telly Awards has named “Smart Brantford,” a video produced by Atomic Spark and the City of Brantford to launch the Smart Brantford initiative, as the winner of a Silver Telly Award (the Awards’ highest honour) in the 36th Annual Telly Awards in the government relations category. With nearly 12,000 entries globally, this is truly a remarkable achievement.

“The purpose of the Smart Brantford video was to showcase the City’s achievements towards becoming a Smart City. The video took the viewer through a journey of our City, highlighting the pillars that make a City a Smart City, including examples of our growing economy, our sustainable environment, the quality of our healthcare, education and safety and the efforts we make as a municipality to be open, transparent, and make services available to the community when and where they need them,” said Trudy Belanco, the City’s Manager of Corporate Policy and Management Practices. “We’re thrilled that the video, which continues to receive such an amazing response from the community, has been honoured with a prestigious Telly Award. Working on this project with Atomic Spark was such a rewarding experience and we’re so pleased the end result is being recognized this way,” added Belanco.

“We are very proud of the work that led to winning this award,” said Atomic Spark Owner/Producer, Adam Hislop. “It’s a great honour and we would like to thank The Telly Awards, the City of Brantford and the crew who worked so hard to make this happen. We hope this video will continue to be a source of pride for the people of this community,” added Hislop. The Telly Awards, founded in 1979, is the premier award honouring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs; the finest video and film productions; and online commercials, video, and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.

A prestigious judging panel of more than 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of the Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work. Less than 10 percent of entries are chosen as winners of the Silver Telly, the awards’ highest honour. Approximately 25 percent of entries are chosen as winners of the Bronze Telly.
