BRANTFORD, ON – Mayor Chris Friel is inviting local students to design the Mayor’s greeting card that will be sent out to his extensive mailing list this holiday season. The Mayor’s second annual Holiday Card Contest encourages students in elementary and secondary school to use their imaginations to draw a design that represents Brantford during the holidays.

“We began this tradition last year to capture the spirit of how Brantford celebrates the holiday season through the eyes of young students,” said Mayor Friel. “Our holidays are made extra special by the creative talents of our young residents and I greatly appreciate the efforts of our community’s children to design the greeting cards that represent Brantford during the holidays.”

Students are being asked to draw a local holiday scene or event that represents Brantford. Original entries suitable for use as a Holiday Card must be submitted in the form of a drawing, sketch or painting and meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum size of original artwork – 4” x 6”
  • Maximum size of original artwork – 8 ½” x 11”
  • Original creations by an elementary or secondary school student in the City of Brantford
  • Accompanied by a signed entry form supplied by the Mayor’s Office

Full contest details and entry forms are available online or in person from the Mayor’s Office or the Office of the Clerk. Artwork must be received in the Mayor's Office no later than Thursday, November 26, 2015 at 4:30 pm for consideration in the contest. Finished artwork, accompanied with a signed entry form, may be submitted in person to the Mayor’s Office or by regular mail to Robin Matthews-Osmond at Brantford City Hall, 100 Wellington Square - Brantford, Ontario N3T 2M3.
