The City of Brantford Economic Development and Tourism Department will be celebrating Tourism Awareness Week with a Tourism Open House on June 5, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Residents and visitors are invited to the Brantford Visitor and Tourism Centre to discover what’s new in the city and to pick up the latest tourism publications.

The event is the perfect opportunity to pick up copies of the Brantford and Area Coupon Book, which is filled with great savings, the Discovery Guide and the new City of Brantford Official Road Map. The first 50 participants will receive a free gift and everyone is encouraged to enter the draw to win a grand prize.

Throughout Ontario, tourism destinations have dedicated the week of May 31 to June 7, 2014 as Tourism Awareness Week in their community. It’s an opportunity to highlight the impact of travel on Ontario’s economy, standard of living and quality of life.

“Tourism is a key contributor to our economy here in Brantford,” said Nicole Drake, Acting Manager, Tourism & Marketing, “For example, in 2013, Tourism Brantford assisted with 85 sporting events which generated an estimated $5.15 million in economic impact for the city.”

Tourism Awareness Week also serves as a kick-off to the peak summer season, allowing tourism partners to leverage heightened awareness to promote tourism products and services. Click for more information about the Tourism Open House.
