Help our city's downtown become the most walkable district in Canada!

On Tuesday, October 18, Mayor Chris Friel and Brantford City Council is hosting a workshop that will work towards creating a workable strategy to make our downtown the most walkable one in the nation.

Workshop Details

What: A brainstorming session designed to generate ideas, priorities and actions for making Brantford the most Walkable Downtown in Canada
When:  Tuesday, October 18, 2011, 7:00 p.m.
Where:  Student Union Building, 103 Darling Street, Brantford

Mayor Chris Friel and Brantford City Council encourage all residents to come out and share your ideas on what makes a downtown 'walkable'. These ideas will be included in the Downtown Streetscape Design Plan, scheduled to be completed in December 2011 and implemented starting in 2012.

“How we successfully create a vibrant walkable downtown will be through the development of a vision, the implementation of actions and the commitment and participation of you, the community stakeholder. I invite you to share your views, ideas and most importantly solutions to creating the most walkable downtown,” Mayor Chris Friel said.

Attracting and retaining people to downtown depends on ensuring that a Walkable Downtown - one that encourages and facilitates walking - supports community health, vitality and safety while embracing the diversity, youth, culture and heritage aspects that are unique to the city.

The City of Brantford has completed a comprehensive Downtown Master Plan that aims to transform Brantford into a diverse, beautiful destination that is recognized for its vibrancy. People on the street and in public places are an essential ingredient for vibrant, economically vital and safe communities.

Be active, have your voice heard and get involved in painting the canvas of Brantford as a 21st century city!
