Traffic Control Changes – West St. at Charing Cross Street Intersection

This Public Notice is to advise that the traffic control at the intersection of West Street and Charing Cross Street will be returned to the previous configuration on Sunday, April 23, 2017, weather permitting.

The changes are being carried out in accordance with Brantford City Council's approved recommendation from their meeting February 28, 2017 that the pavements markings be restored to their original condition.

Three key modifications will occur simultaneously at the intersection as follows:

Pavement Marking Modifications Five (5) left run pavement marking arrows located in the middle lane will be changed to through/left run arrows to indicate the reversal of the configuration from exclusive left to the shared left/through lane.

Traffic Signal Hardware and Phasing Modifications The traffic signal head configuration for the northbound approach on West Street will be reduced from the current five (5) traffic signal heads to the original three (3) heads. The traffic signal head configuration for southbound traffic on West Street will be reduced from the current four (4) traffic signal heads to the original two (2) heads.

Sign Modifications "New" signs will be modified on the overhead location and the pole mounted in front of 355 West Street to clearly indicate the changes.

It is expected that there will be traffic delays during the changeover estimated to take approximately 4-6 hours to complete. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to take extra caution while the changeover and adjustment to the new configuration takes place.
