Volunteering

Volunteers are a very important part of the daily operation of the Centre. Some volunteers work on committees to help make decisions, while others pitch in and help carry out those plans. The Beckett Adult Leisure Centre needs all of them! Staff and seniors work together to make a meaningful and enjoyable volunteer experience.

The following are some positions filled by volunteers: kitchen helpers, front desk receptionists, tuck shop helpers, program instruction/activity leaders, advisory board members, committee members, and special event helpers. Daytime availability is normally required Monday to Friday, however some special events are held on evenings and weekends. To find out how to get involved, contact staff at 756-3261.

We are looking for...

Kitchen Volunteers - From shepherds pie to apple pie, help is needed in the kitchen! From food preparation to serving customers and dishwashing, this is a great way to meet new people, enjoy a free meal and have a lot of fun! Please see Diane in the kitchen.

Front Desk Volunteers - Is working with the public your game? Why not put your people skills to work as a front desk receptionist? We are looking for energetic volunteers to answer the phone, provide newcomers with information about the Centre and process memberships and program registrations. What a fantastic way to meet new people! Please see staff to find out how to get involved.

Income Tax Volunteers - Are you interested in learning how to prepare next years income tax return? Once you are trained through Revenue Canada Taxation office, we look for volunteers to help our members complete their returns. The Income Tax Training Workshop is usually held mid February and clinics start at the beginning of March.

Program & Special Event Team - We are always looking for new ideas for programs and special events. We would love to have you come and work with staff and other volunteers on different special event committees. Speak with staff if you would like to help out with any of the special events and programs that we have planned this year! We really do need you...
