Kiwanis Field logoOn Saturday​​ June 25th members of the Kiwanis Field Committee together with the Grand Erie District School Board, federal and provincial officials, representatives from the City of Brantford and a large contingent of the Pauline Johnson Collegiate & Vocational School community gathered to celebrate the official opening of the new state-of-the-art Kiwanis Field outdoor athletic facility. After nearly six years of planning and fundraising, Kiwanis Field is a reality thanks to the support of over 150 community partners and the project’s gold level donors including the Kiwanis Club of Brantford, the Grand Erie District School Board, the City of Brantford and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

Featuring both synthetic turf and an 8 lane rubberized track as well as permanent bleacher seating, a central press box, electronic scoreboard and light standards for night time use, the Kiwanis Field has been built to accommodate a variety of sports including football, soccer, track and field, rugby and field lacrosse. The new Field will also be suitable to play host to a number of profile events including Special Olympics and Para Sports.

Facility Elements

Kiwanis Field is built on the back campus of Pauline Johnson Collegiate and includes:

  • An 8-lane rubberized track
  • A synthetic turf field
  • Multiple sets of permanent bleachers
  • Light standards for night time use
  • Permanent change rooms and press box
  • An electronic scoreboard
  • Improvements to the parking lot
  • Suitability for Special Olympics

Artifical Turf Fields Require Special Attention

To keep the facility safe and clean the following is STRICTLY PROHIBITED on or near the field:

  • ALL FOOD, DRINK, GUM, CANDY
  • BICYCLES
  • GOLF
  • DOGS/PETS
  • MUDDY OR METAL SPIKED FOOTWEAR
  • VEHICLES
  • SMOKING
  • LITTER/GARBAGE
    (DISPOSE OF WASTE IN PROPER RECEPTACLES)

USE OF THE FIELD IS BY PERMIT ONLY

Facility Management

Although situated behind Pauline Johnson Collegiate, Kiwanis Field is maintained by the Parks Maintenance Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. A long term lease agreement with the Grand Erie District School Board has been undertaken with the GEDSB having the ability to use and program the facility during the day (when school is open) and the City responsible for the overall facility maintenance and operations as well as rentals/bookings during the evenings and weekends.
