Pre-School & Children's Programs
A child learns social skills through early play experiences. The best opportunities are those that are planned and supervised in a safe environment. Through play, a child develops creative skills as well as both fine
and gross motor skills.
Play environments have a great deal of potential for meeting the social, cognitive and physical developmental needs of preschool children. Brantford Parks and Recreation offers a high-quality play environment, that will provide adventure, social interaction, skill development, variety, and mastery suitable for the preschooler. These programs are located at Branlyn, Doug Snooks Eagle Place and Woodman Park Community Centres. The program instructors are trained and experienced in working with preschool age children. Our staff to child ratio is 1:6 with a maximum of 12 children per class.
- Children must be fully toilet trained to attend our programs with the exception of those programs
which include parent involvement.
- Snack is provided through parent participation for some programs. Please provide ‘peanut free’
snacks.
Some preschoolers may be participating for the first time in a structured program and may be shy or hesitant to join in. The program instructors wish to make your child’s play experience enjoyable, safe and memorable and will strive to ensure your child is at ease. The program instructors believe that in order for your child to be involved and participate in the program and not be distracted by other nonparticipants, parents/guardians should please not remain in the playroom unless your child is experiencing a separation issue or does not want to stay. Parents are welcome to wait in the lobby area. With this practice, the program instructors can work with your child individually and the total class without distractions, delays or interruptions.
