By-law 144-88 Section   Description of Infraction
(By-law 144-88)
 1  Parked within 10 metres of an Intersection  6(f)  No person shall stop, stand or park any portion of a vehicle except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with a traffic control signal, sign or device or the direction of a police officer, in any of the following places:
(f) Subject to clause (a) of Section 7 of this bylaw, within ten (10) metres of the nearest part of any intersection.
 2  Parked in Violation of a Coin Station  34(3)  No person shall park or permit a vehicle to be parked in a parking space without purchasing a valid ticket and displaying the ticket on the dashboard of the vehicle, on the driver’s side with the time showing. The fact that a vehicle is parked in a private space without a valid and properly displayed ticket or displaying an expired ticket shall be prima facie evidence that such vehicle is parked in violation of this section. It is an offence hereunder for any person to cause or permit any vehicle owned or registered in that person's name to be parked in violation of this section.
 3  Parked in Excess of 24 hours  9(1)  No person shall park a vehicle on a highway for a period longer than twenty-four (24) consecutive hours.
 4  Parked within 3 metres of a Fire Hydrant  6(c)  No person shall stop, stand or park any portion of a vehicle except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with a traffic control signal, sign or device or the direction of a police officer, in any of the following places: 
(c) within three (3) metres or a point on the curb edge or edge of the highway adjacent to any fire hydrant.
 5  Parked Facing Wrong Way  5(1)  No person shall park or stop any vehicle on any highway except on the right hand side of the highway, having regard to the direction in which the vehicle was travelling, and with the right front and rear wheels parallel to, and not more than twelve inches from the curb where there is a raised curb or where there is no curb or a rolled curb, with the front right and rear wheels parallel to and as near to the right hand limit of the highway as is practicable without stopping or parking over any part of the highway where grass has grown or which is not intended for the use of vehicles, but this section shall not apply where angle parking is specifically authorized under this Bylaw, nor to prevent parking or stopping of a vehicle on the left hand side of a highway designated for on-way traffic, where such parking is not otherwise prohibited.
6 Stopped in a School Bus Loading Zone 23 Where signs to that effect are displayed no person shall stop a vehicle or permit a vehicle to remain stopped, other than a school bus, in an area designated as a school bus loading zone set out in Schedule '19' to this Bylaw.
7 Parked in Loading Zone 22(1) Where signs to that effect are displayed, no person shall stop, stand or park any vehicle other than a commercial motor vehicle or a vehicle displaying a valid dual purpose loading permit in any Loading Zone for a longer period of time during the prescribed time periods as set out in Schedule '18' of this Bylaw, or for any purpose than for the expeditious unloading and delivery or pick-up and loading of materials of goods.
8 Parked on Private Property Without Consent 40(a)
 No person shall park or leave a vehicle:
(a) On private property without the consent of the owner or occupant of such property.
9 Parked Truck - 11:00 p.m. - 
6:00 a.m. 9(2) No person shall park a vehicle having more than two axles or having more than four tires on any highway in the City of Brantford between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
10 Parked within 1 metre of Driveway
6(b) No person shall stop, stand or park any portion of a vehicle except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with a traffic control signal, sign or device or the direction of a police officer, in any of the following places: (b) within one (1) metre of a public or private driveway.
11 Parked within 25 metres - Bus Stop Approach
6(k) No person shall stop, stand or park any portion of a vehicle except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with a traffic control signal, sign or device or the direction of a police officer, in any of the following places: 
(k) within twenty-five (25) metres of an approach to a bus stop sign.
12 Prohibited parking - 2:00 a.m. - 6:00 a.m.
 10(1)
 No person shall park a vehicle on any highway in the City of Brantford between the hours of 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. during the prohibited days when signs to that effect are displayed as set out in Columns 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Schedule '3' to this Bylaw.
 13  Parked in Prohibited Area - Signed  16(1)
 Where signs to that effect are displayed, no person shall park a vehicle on any highway at the side and between the limits set out respectively in Schedule '7' to this Bylaw.
 14 No Repark  19(3)  No person shall re-park a vehicle within 5 hours of initial parking on any highway within the Downtown as identified in Schedule '31'.
 15  Overtime Parking - Signed  19(1)  Where signs to that effect are displayed no person shall park a vehicle on any highway at the side and between the limits stated by such signs or for a longer period of time as stated by such signs all as provided for in Schedule '10' to this Bylaw.
 16  Parking on Prohibited Side of Street - Signed  20(1)  Where signs to that effect are displayed, no person shall park a vehicle on any highway at the side and between the limits set out in Schedule '11', Schedule '12', Schedule '13', Schedule '14' or Schedule '15' during the time or days set out in the said Schedules.
 17  Stopping in Prohibited Area - Signed
 17(1)  Where signs to that effect are displayed, no person shall stop a vehicle on any highway at the side and between the limits and during the prohibited times and days all as set out in Schedule '8' to this Bylaw.
 18  Parked on Sidewalk
 6(a)  No person shall stop, stand or park any portion of a vehicle except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with a traffic control signal, sign or device or the direction of a police officer, in any of the following places: (a) on a sidewalk.
 19  Parked on Fire Route  54(1)  No person shall park or leave a vehicle, except an authorized emergency vehicle, along a Fire Route designated by the Bylaw.
 20  Parked in Designated Accessible Parking Space 48   No person or organization shall park a vehicle in a designated parking space, under this Bylaw, unless a currently valid permit has been issued to that person, organization or to a passenger being picked-up or transported in the vehicle and such permit is displayed on or in the vehicle in accordance with the requirement of the Highway Traffic Act, the regulations made thereunder and this Bylaw.
