Windrow Removal Program for Seniors and Persons with a Physical Disability

Snow Windrow is the portion of snow at the end of the driveway created after the road plow has plowed the municipal road.

Brantford City Council has approved a Snow Windrow Removal Program for Seniors or those Physically challenged effective January 2009. This program is offered at no charge to those that qualify. Operational Services is responsible for administering and co-ordinating the Snow Windrow Removal Program which will follow road plowing operations during a winter storm event.

Please note, roads are plowed in conformance with the council approved Ontario Minimum Maintenance Standards, Regulation 239/02 of the Ontario Municipal Act. Your road may not be plowed after each snow event. Plowing will take place when accumulations reach the plowing thresholds outlined in the Regulation. Effective July 1, 2017, qualified individuals interested in receiving this service will be required to register at the Public Works Counter at Brantford City Hall, 100 Wellington Square, Brantford between Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm., between September 15 and October 31 of each year. Qualifications

Eligibility for the program requires that all occupants of a registered property/residence be 65 years of age and older, or physically challenged.Proof of age and address (Government issued photo identification) is required For those with physical disabilities, doctor’s confirmation of disability is required.

Important Information

  • Windrow removal operations are staged relative to road plowing activities and will begin following completion of the road plowing activity.
  • The windrow clearing will likely take place within 16 hours following the plowing of your road. Please be patient.
  • Please ensure an your driveway is unobstructed.
  • The City is not responsible for any damage, howsoever caused.
  • Please keep your house number visible and illuminated.
  • Please notify the City if you move from the address on file or if at any time your eligibility circumstances change. Failure to report any changes in address or eligibility will disqualify you from future registrations.
  • Must reside at residence throughout the winter months.
  • You must re-register your participation in the program within the registration window, each year.
