Residential Withdrawal Management Facility Proposal

A proposal has been submitted to the Hamilton, Niagara, Norfolk Brant Local Health Integration Network on behalf of the core project partners: Brant Community Health Care System, Norfolk General Hospital/Holmes House, Community Addictions and Mental Health of Haldimand and Norfolk, and St Leonard’s Community Services.  If funding is secured, the four municipalities of Brant, Haldmand, Norfolk and Brantford along with our neighbours residing on Six Nations and New Credit would have access to a fully integrated system of addiction treatment that builds on the successful programs that are already operating in our communities. The key enhancements that are proposed are based on what the community told us during consultations:

  • A residential treatment facility to be located in the City of Brantford, as a companion site to the existing Holmes House facility in Simcoe;
  • Access to a community withdrawal management option for those who are appropriate to withdraw in their home or another non-residential facility; and
  • Supported post treatment housing, to help individuals who are don’t have a safe place to live maintain their recovery for up to one year.

A site for the facility has not been selected. Site investigation would commence during Phase 2 – planning if the proposal is funded. At that time, there will be opportunities to participate in an Advisory Committee to provide input into the design and development of the new facility and programming.

This diagram shows the end state of the ideal new system as envisioned by the proposal partners. For more information or to read the full proposal please contact Susan Evenden, Manager, Strategic Planning - sevenden@brantford.ca and check back here for updates.
