Dear Owners/Operators,

Thank you for your interest in the 2017 child care Wage Enhancement Grant.

Consistent with the government’s previous commitment in 2016, the 2017 Wage Enhancement Grant will support an increase of up to $2 per hour, plus 17.5 percent benefits. The Home Child Care Enhancement Grant (HCCEG) will support an increase of up to $20 per day for home child care providers.

In addition to the increases mentioned above, the ministry will also provide a supplemental grant of $150 for each eligible centre based FTE or home visitor FTE and $50 for each eligible home child care provider. The supplemental grant provides operators with flexibility to cover salary shortfalls, and/or additional benefits. The grant can be used to fund additional eligible staff and/or hours in program, vacation days, sick days, PD days and/or other benefits.

To align with adjustments to the salary and wages of the school-based ECE grid stated in the three year central labour agreements, the current salary cap of $26.27 will be increased in 2017 by approximately 1.5% to $26.68. The base daily fees cap for HCCEG will also increase in 2017 from $262.70 to $266.80.

Wage Enhancement Grant applications for licensed child care centres and PHDC agencies will be posted on our website by January 20, 2017 for a period of 45 days.

Wage Enhancement Grant applications for licensed child care centres and PHDC agencies will also be posted on filesend by January 20, 2017. If you use this outlet to upload your completed Wage Enhancement Grant application please remember to notify Melanie or Tina.

The deadline for submissions will be no later than March 10, 2017. Any operator who has not submitted an application for the Wage Enhancement Grant by the deadline will not receive Wage Enhancement Grant funding in 2017.
