City of Brantford announces 2025 Remembrance Day Services
BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is proud to join fellow Canadians on Remembrance Day as we pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who served and continue to serve our country during times of war, military conflict and peace. We encourage members of our community to join us on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 as we remember, with deep respect and immense gratitude, the remarkable sacrifices of others.
An overnight lighting display will take place at the Brant War Memorial (6 Dalhousie St.) beginning on Monday, November 10, 2025. A cadet vigil will take place on Monday, November 10 from 6 p.m. to midnight, and resumes on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The names of 23 veterans from the City of Brantford, County of Brant and Six Nations of the Grand River were identified to be missing from the Brant War Memorial, including one from the First World War (1914 to 1918) and 22 from the Second World War (1939 to 1945). These veterans will be recognized during the ceremony on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. The City of Brantford is grateful to the Canadian Military Heritage Museum, and Ingham Monuments for their support and commitment to ensuring the heroes are honoured for generations to come.
Residents are invited to attend the Remembrance Day Service at the Brant War Memorial
(6 Dalhousie St.) on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Front row seating will only be available to veterans and their spouses or companions. Some bleacher seating will be available.
The order of proceedings for the City’s Remembrance Day Services and Parade on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 is as follows:
- 10:40 a.m.: The walking march leaves Harmony Square (89 Dalhousie St.) en route to the Brant War Memorial (6 Dalhousie St.)
- 10:50 a.m.: Civic Service of Remembrance at the Brant War Memorial, Brant Ave. and Dalhousie St.
A fly-pass will occur during the service with the Mitchell B25 and FF46 Firefly aircrafts courtesy of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, weather permitting.
Each year, the City of Brantford’s Remembrance Day Organizing Committee invites students from local schools to participate in a special speech writing challenge. This year, Lexi Rose from St. John’s College wrote a speech about “The Role of Canadian Soldiers in War One”. Lexi will read her speech during the Remembrance Day Ceremony on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to a free Open House and a light luncheon at the Brantford Naval Veterans Association (54 Wadsworth St.) and the Gunners Club (115 Henry St.).
For those unable to attend Brantford’s Remembrance Day Service in person, Rogers TV Brantford will air the service on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Remembrance Day Crosswalks
In September, two new Remembrance Day themed crosswalks were installed adjacent to the Brant War Memorial. Installed at the intersections of Bridge Street & Dalhousie Street and West Street & Brant Avenue, the crosswalks are designed to extend the existing tributes at the War Memorial while serving as a lasting reminder of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to Canada.
Temporary road closures
Attendees driving to the Remembrance Day Services should be aware that ongoing road construction has reduced Brant Avenue (Dalhousie St. to Colborne St.) to a single southbound lane, and Icomm Dr. (Colborne St. to Market St.) to a single eastbound lane. Icomm Dr. (Market St., S. to Clarence St., S.) has been reduced to a single lane in each direction. These closures are required as part of essential work related to the downtown revitalization project and place strain on traffic flow in and around the downtown. Construction details can be found at www.Brantford.ca/DowntownDetours.
The following streets will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. for the City’s Remembrance Day Services:
- Dalhousie St. between Market St. to Brant Ave.
- Brant Ave. between Church St. and Colborne St.
Detour routes will be signed to accommodate vehicular traffic.
Parking and transit
Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, free parking will be provided at downtown area municipal parking lots and for Veterans in the RBC parking lot. Parking time restrictions at on-street parking spaces in the downtown area will be waived.
Brantford Transit and Brantford Lift will offer free transportation from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to and from the Brant War Memorial and Cenotaph (6 Dalhousie S.) for those attending the Remembrance Day Service. You can find updated routes and schedules at Brantford.ca/Transit.
