City of Brantford awarded five blooms at Communities in Bloom provincial competition

BRANTFORD, ON – This past weekend, the City of Brantford was recognized with a coveted five out of five Blooms at the 2025 Communities in Bloom provincial competition, earning the opportunity to compete in the 2026 national competition.

“This recognition is a true reflection of the passion and dedication of the people who make Brantford beautiful,” says Mayor Kevin Davis. “Achieving five blooms wouldn’t be possible without the incredible talent of City staff and the commitment of our many volunteers. Their hard work, creativity, and pride in our community are what make accomplishments like this possible, and I want to sincerely thank them for their outstanding contributions.”

The Communities in Bloom judges visited Brantford on August 14 and 15, 2025, to evaluate the community, including a variety of locations, for several key criteria as part of the competition, including tidiness, environmental action, heritage conservation, landscape, urban forestry, and floral displays.  

In their evaluation, 2025 judges Linda Robertson and Janet Willoughby praised the City’s unique floral displays.

“Stunning, absolutely stunning. The bed designs have striking colour combinations and a wide variety of types of plants. Everywhere we looked, there was a display of colour. The panel beds and carpet bedding at Lorne Park were so professional, beautifully edged and cultivated, and weedless!”

Organizers showcased the City of Brantford to the judges during their tour that included visits to the Bell Homestead NHS, Brantford Farmers’ Market, Stedman Community Hospice Garden, Children’s Memorial Garden, Dufferin Park, Glenhyrst Gardens, Harmony Square, Lorne Park, and more.

“The City is thrilled to be awarded five blooms at this year’s Communities in Bloom competition,” says Kimberley Wyskiel, Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Brantford. “We are grateful for the time and effort that local volunteers and City staff put towards participating in the provincial competition. I am incredibly proud of our Parks and Recreation team and look forward to growing our efforts in 2026.”
