Construction to begin on Phase 1 of Downtown Revitalization Project
BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is preparing to begin construction on Phase 1 of the Downtown Revitalization Project, with work anticipated to start the week of September 15, 2025, and be completed by the end of August 2026, weather permitting.
This multi-year infrastructure upgrade will enhance sidewalks, roadways, and underground services in key areas of the downtown. Improvements will support future growth and make downtown Brantford more accessible, and more vibrant.
Phase 1 construction limits:
- Brant Avenue between Colborne Street and Dalhousie Street
- Colborne Street between Brant Avenue and King Street
- Dalhousie Street between Brant Avenue and Bridge Street
- Icomm Drive between Colborne Street and Clarence Street South
- Hill Street between Icomm Drive and Water Street
City staff will host a public open house on Monday, September 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall (58 Dalhousie Street). This drop-in event will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the impacts of Phase 1, ask questions, and speak directly with the project team.
Detour routes in place
Brant Avenue (Dalhousie Street to Colborne Street) and Icomm Drive (Colborne Street to Market Street South) will be reduced to a single southbound/eastbound lane during construction. There may be short periods when full closures or delays are required to safely complete construction work. To support traffic flow and maintain access to downtown businesses and destinations, through-traffic detour routes have been established.

Please plan ahead and allow extra time when travelling in the area. Suggested routes are available at Brantford.ca/DowntownDetours.
Supporting local businesses
Where possible, sidewalks and storefront entryways will remain open during construction. Property owners and local businesses directly affected by construction have been notified.
City staff are available for in-person questions Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Tuesdays, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., by appointment at the Downtown Revitalization Office at City Hall. To request an appointment, please email cobdowntown@brantford.ca.
