Brantford-Brant Stay Housed Initiative

The City of Brantford Housing Stability team is launching a pilot project to offer case management supports to tenants at risk of eviction. This project aims to help maintain tenancies in the community. Staff will provide support for a variety of concerns including financial literacy/management, interpersonal skills, hoarding, bugs/rodents, pet care, and skills such as cooking, hygiene, and home care. Housing Stability Workers will provide intensive case management in clients’ homes to address concerns. Additional cultural resources and supports will be made available for Indigenous tenants. This project is funded by the Government of Canada.

Who can participate?

Clients must be interested in the program and at risk of eviction. Eviction must be avoidable in order to quality for client supports. Clients must be at risk of eviction from one of the following providers:

How do I refer?

A tenant must consent to participate. If the tenant is interested in receiving support, submit the intake form on this website. Please also attach the signed consent form when submitting the referral, clearly indicating the housing provider name to ensure information can be exchanged between the landlord and the City of Brantford.

When does it start?
Referrals are now open, and the program will start April 2026.
What details will I be given about the client?
Participation and resolution of concerns that are placing the client at risk of eviction will be shared with the landlord. The case notes, and details about client concerns will not be shared, to ensure client confidentiality.
What details will I be asked to share?
Landlords will be asked to share policies/procedures regarding the concerns that the clients are referred for. (example: if a client concern is pest management, landlords will be asked to share what their process is for supporting clients with pests and allowing contractors on site). A dedicated Landlord Liaison will be the primary contact for participating or potential landlords.
